The Dale Fall Fest Half Pot raffle is an exciting fundraiser for Fall Fest. This year’s Half Pot winner walked away with half of $10,310 for a grand total of $5,155!
Dale Fall Fest keeps half the raffle proceeds to help fund the festival. This money supports free or low-cost events and operations for Dale Fall Fest, Spencer County’s largest street festival. It helps cover costs like:
- Setup & Production: Event staging, permits, and live entertainment.
- Prizes & Awards: Trophies and cash prizes for the parade and contests.
- Festival Favorites: Carnival rides, the queen pageant, food vendors, kid’s games, and community tournaments such as 5K, cornhole, and euchre.
Key attractions include the parade, live music, children’s games, pet parade, carnival rides/games, food vendors, contests (euchre, horseshoes, basketball, cornhole, 5K), queen pageant, firefighter challenges, animal shows, and more. Robert Dale Owen (1801–1877)
The town of Dale was originally called Elizabeth in 1843, but when it was discovered that there was already a town called Elizabeth in Indiana, the founders had to come up with a new name. They chose “Dale” to honor Robert Dale Owen, who was the area’s U.S. Congressman at the time. Owen was a fascinating historical figure: he was a social reformer, a champion of public education and women’s rights, and the son of Robert Owen, the founder of the famous “utopian social experiment” community down the road in New Harmony, Indiana.
