What Do Volunteers Do?

It takes a village to build the biggest small-town festival! Our volunteers help with a wide variety of tasks, including:

  • Running festival booths and stands (like our legendary food and game spots).

  • Assisting with parade coordination and event setup.

  • Helping keep the festival grounds clean, safe, and welcoming for thousands of visitors.

  • Providing friendly faces and local information to guests.

Ready to Make a Difference?

Every hour you give helps bring people “home” and keeps our small-town spirit thriving. Fill out our quick interest form below, and we will find the perfect spot and shift for you!

Dale Trivia

J. Clarence Karcher (1894–1978)

Born in Dale in 1894, John Clarence Karcher was the son of Leo and Mary Karcher. His family moved to Oklahoma when he was five, where he later studied physics and electrical engineering at the University of Oklahoma. Early work during and after World War I led him to develop the reflection seismograph, a groundbreaking method using sound waves to map underground rock formations and locate oil deposits. He patented the technology in the 1920s, co-founded pioneering geophysical companies, and spent much of his career in Texas, where he served as president of Concho Petroleum Company. Karcher’s invention transformed the oil and gas industry, earning him lasting recognition as the father of reflection seismography.
