Dale Trivia
Del Harris (born 1937)
Our town has a deep connection to basketball history through Del Harris, who was born in Dale in 1937. He actually returned to his roots early in his career to coach at the local high school before moving up to the global stage. Harris went on to become a legendary NBA head coach for the Houston Rockets, Milwaukee Bucks, and Los Angeles Lakers (where he coached a young Kobe Bryant), and was eventually inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
